The I.V. House UltraDome is designed to shield, secure, and stabilize the catheter hub and loop of tubing to prevent accidental dislodgment while providing easy access to the IV site for care and maintenance.
The clear ventilated I.V. House UltraDome is available in two sizes, small and large. Either size can be used on any peripheral IV on the scalp, hand, forearm, elbow, or foot.
The soft foam-padded flange of the device is gentle on the skin. The large I.V. House UltraDome has additional foam padding around the open edge for patient comfort.
Secure your IV site according to your hospital's policies and procedures. Tape the loop of tubing so it's small enough to fit completely under the curve of the dome. If you do not have tubing, the curve of the dome will point toward the fingers or toes, depending on where the IV is placed.
Tear off a 6 to 7 inch piece of tape and fold both ends under to create courtesy tabs. Wrap the tape over the dome and secure it to the TLC Splint or other armboard. Allow the tubing to exit from the open end. Remove the crack-and-peel backing from the puppy sticker and apply the sticker to the dome. Tell the patient that the puppy likes to sleep on the house and to leave her alone.
Even though the domes are transparent, we recommend removing the dome for visual and manual inspection according to your hospital's protocol. Simply lift the tape from one side to inspect the IV site according to your nursing practice guidelines.
